This pretty edition of Melbourne House by Miss Elizabeth Wetherell was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book itself isn't dated but there is a written inscription inside dated 1894. So the book is late Victorian.
The book is bound in brown cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but the book does show a slight forwards lean and there is some light wear to the corners. The text block edges show foxing and there is light shelf wear to the board edges. The boards show minor marks and there is rubbing to the spine edges, with crushing to the spine ends. There is minor loss to the gilt on the spine.
Inside, there is light age toning to the paper and scattered foxing throughout. There is also occasional creasing to the pages.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
