This stunning edition of Red Letter Poems by English Men and Women was published by Thomas Y Crowell & Company in 1885.
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty decoration in gilt and black to the front board and spine. All edges gilt. It's in good condition but shows light wear and bumping to the corners and rubbing to the board edges. The boards show minor marks and rubbing and there is sunning and marking to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the top of the front hinge and again to the gutter at the preface page. There is significant tanning to the 92 and 93 but the rest of the pages show lighter age toning and occasional foxing. There is a written inscription on one of the preliminary pages. Dimensions approximately 18.7cm x 13cm x 3.4cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in biodegradable bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and string.
