This beautiful vintage edition of What Katy Did by Susan Coolidge was published by Collins Clear Type Press. The book itself is undated but there I'd estimate it to be circa 1920's.
The book is bound in red cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front board and spine. It's a really striking binding and in good condition - the main flaw is a hole in the cloth covering the back board. There is wear and crushing to the corners, and the boards show minor marks and scuffing. There is crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting in the cloth; there is age toning and light foxing to the text block edges.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there are some written numbers to the front endpaper. There is also a written name and address on the front pastedown. The pages show age toning throughout, with light age toning and sporadic foxing.
Dimensions approximately 19cm x 13cm x 2.3cm.
The book features a handful of colour plates by Kathleen Lucas.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
