This stunning antique French book of L'Ami des Enfants par Berquin was published in Paris in 1847. It's an exquisite binding, with gilt and coloured floral decoration to the front and spine. The intricate detail on both the boards and the spine is superb, and really showcases the beauty of 19th Century French bookbinding. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition with light wear to the corners and bumping to the top corner of the front board. There is minor bumping to the board edges and very light rubbing to the boards. The gilt on the spine is still bright with no dulling; crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there are two penned inscriptions to the front free endpaper and discolouration around the edges of the free endpapers. The pages show age toning and scattered foxing (some pages have heavier foxing than others). The tissue guard for the frontispiece is tanned. The book features some stunning half tone plates.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
