This beautiful antique edition of Into the Unknown West The Story of Columbus was written by Frank Mundell and published by Gall and Inglis. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate inside dated 1900.
The book is bound in green cloth with stunning pictorial and gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but does show a pronounced forward2 lean. There is bumping and crushing to the corners and very slight fraying to the cloth. There is minor marking to the cloth and crushing to the spine ends - there is loss to the cloth at the tail of the spine.
Inside, there is slight cracking to the front hinge and a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The free endpapers are toned and there is pencilled letters to the FFEP. There are occasional cracks to the gutter (including at the title page) revealing the binding thread, but the pages remain tightly bound. There is sporadic foxing and handling marks. The book has a handful of black and white plates. Dimensions approximately 19.8cm x 13.7cm x 3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
