This lovely edition of J M Barrie's Peter Pan in Kensington Gardens was published by Hodder and Stoughton in 1951. It's bound in maroon cloth with blind stamped detail to the front and gilt lettering to the spine. There is no dust jacket.
The book is in very good condition with light wear and crushing to the corners. There is some minor marking and scuffing to the boards; the spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a name and school in pen on the front free endpaper. The pages show sporadic foxing and marking. There is a tear to the bottom of page 1 which has been inexpertly repaired with glue. Another tear (approx 1 inch) can be seen to the bottom of plate 12.
There are 16 colour plates by the iconic illustrator Arthur Rackham, and they really capture the life and spirit of this story. There are also black and white line drawings within the text.
Dimensions approximately 25.3cm x 18.8cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in bubble wrap, patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
