This beautiful, antique edition of Queen Victoria Her Life and Times was published by Walter Scott Publishing Company. The book itself is undated but after some research, I estimate it to have been published circa 1900. There is a written inscription dated 1906.
The book is bound in green/blue cloth over bevelled boards with stunning floral decoration in an art nouveau style to the front and spine. All edges gilt. It's in good condition but there is wear and crushing to the corners which has caused very minor fraying to the cloth. There is bumping to the board edges and minor marking to the boards. There is sunning and dulling to the spine, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a penned inscription on the verso of the frontispiece. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing and handling marks. There is slight damage to the edges of five pages towards the back of the book. This is just in the margin.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 15cm x 4.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
