This beautiful, antique book is called In His Steps and One of the Two by Charles Sheldon and was published by Oliphant, Anderson and Ferrier in 1899. So the book is from the very end of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in red cloth with stunning floral decoration and gilt detail to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but wear to the corners has caused slight splitting in the cloth to the bottom corner of the front board. There is soiling and marking to the cloth, as well as fading to the spine and edges of the back board. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the free endpapers are tanned and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown which has caused offsetting to the front free endpaper. The rest of the pages are clean and bright with occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 22.3cm x 15cm x 4.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
