This beautiful edition of Stories from Homer by AJ Church was published by Seeley and Co in 1915. The half calf leather binding was a school prize binding and there is a school insignia blind stamped to the front in gilt. There are five raised bands and gilt tooling to the spine. Marbled text block edges.
It's in good condition with light wear to the corners and board edges. The boards show minor scuffing and there is quite heavy fading to the marbled text block edges. There is sunning to the spine, and wear to the edges and spine ends which has caused minor loss to the surface of the leather. A crack is just starting to the front hinge but the board is secure.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing. There are lovely illustration plates throughout.
Dimensions approximately 19.1cm x 13.4cm x 3.7cm. All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
