This beautiful vintage edition of the Hans Christian Andersen Fairy Tales is bound in green cloth with pictorial detail to the front board and spine. It was published by Collins. The book itself is undated, but after some research, I would estimate it to be from the early 1900's.
The book is in good condition but there are signs of wear. There is spotting, rubbing and light marking to the boards. The corners are worn and lightly crushed. Sadly there is loss to the illustration on the spine and the spine is darkened. The spine ends are crushed which has caused splitting to the cloth.
Inside there are beautifully decorative endpapers. The hinges are slightly cracked but the pages all feel tightly bound. There is a neatly written inscription on the back of the half title page, along with a pressed flower petal (this is sadly broken in two). The pages are significantly tanned and there are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places. There are some minor chips to the page edges and marks to the pages themselves.
The book features stunning colour illustration plates.
