This beautiful edition of Half Hours In Field and Forest was published by James Nisbet and Co. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1907. The full tree calf leather was a school prize binding and features a blind stamped school insignia to the front. The spine features a leather title label and five raised bands with gilt tooling. Text block edges marbled.
It's in very good condition, with just some chipping and minor loss to the surface of the leather along the spine. There is light rubbing to the corners and board edges and faint tarnishing to the front. The top edge of the text block is dulled and there is a very slight crack starting to the top of the back hinge.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages show occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright.
The book features beautiful black and white illustrations throughout which make it an extra special read.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13cm x 3.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
