This beautiful little early 20th century edition of The Book of Common Prayer was published by Eyre and Spottiswoode. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from the early 20th Century. There is a penned inscription dated 1932 but I suspect it's earlier than that.
The book is bound in full leather with stunning art nouveau floral decoration blind stamped to the front and spine, with delicate gilt roses. All edges gilt. It's in near fine condition, with light wear to the corners and board edges and scuffing to the leather.
Inside, there is very slight splitting to the paper of the front pastedown where someone has bent back the front cover slightly. There is a penned inscription to one of the preliminary blank pages and the pages show occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 11.9cm x 7.9cm x 1.9cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
