This beautiful edition of Wonderful Stories for Children by Hans Christian Andersen was published by W & R Chambers Ltd. The book itself is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1903. So the book is either late Victorian or early Edwardian.
The book is bound in original green cloth with beautiful pictorial decoration to the front and spine. It's in very good condition with just light wear and crushing to the corners. The boards show some minor marking and there is slight air bubbling to the front. The spine is dulled whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is tanning to the endpapers and a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. This has caused slight offsetting to the FFEP. The rest of the pages are clean and bright with occasional handling marks.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 12.8cm x 1.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
