This lovely The Jasmine Farm by Elizabeth Von Arnim was published by Macmillan and Co in 1935. So the book is 90 years old. It's bound in green cloth with darker green lettering and detail to the front board, and gilt to the spine.
Elizabeth Von Arnim was a prolific author and is probably best known for The Enchanted April and Elizabeth and her German Garden. Her humorous writing make for delightful reading.
It's in very good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the crushing to the spine ends and splitting to the cloth at the head of the spine. The book has a slight forward lean and there is rubbing to the corners. The text block edges show some foxing and there is a small chip to the surface of the cloth along the fore edge of the front board. The spine shows faint sunning.
Inside, the pages show some light age toning and scattered foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14.2cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
