This stunning antique edition of Evangeline A Tale of Acadie by Longfellow was published by David Bogue. The book is undated but I'd estimate it to be mid Victorian. The book is bound in blue cloth with stunning gold gilt decoration blind stamped into the boards and spine. The boards are bevelled and the text block edges are gold gilt.
It's in good condition for it's age and there is only light wear to the corners. The spine is faintly darkened with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the pages show age toning sporadic foxing. There are no written inscriptions. The title page is loose at the bottom and there is cracking to the gutter at the Illustrations List page.
There are striking black and white illustrations throughout.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 14.3cm x 1.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
