This beautiful vintage edition of Barriers Burned Away by E P Roe was published by Collins Clear Type Press. The book itself is undated but I'd estimate it to be from circa 1910.
The book is bound in blue cloth over bevelled boards, with beautiful pictorial decoration of a Victorian lady to the front board and spine. It's a really striking binding and in very good condition. There is light wear to the corners and board edges; there are two small air bubbles under the cloth covering the back board. The spine is faintly sunned and there is significant foxing to the text block edges.
Inside the endpapers are beautifully decorative with illustrative poppies in an art nouveau style. The pages are bright with minimal toning, but there is scattered foxing throughout. There is cracking to the gutter at the title page but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book features 8 colour plates. Dimensions approximately 20cm x 14cm x 4.5cm.
The books will be posted hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
