This beautiful edition of Hand Book of Foliage and Foreground Drawing by George Barnard was published by George Routledge and Sons in 1876. It's bound in green cloth with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front board and spine.
It's in good condition but there is wear and bumping to the corners and board edges. The boards show minor marking and darkening to the edges. The spine is sunned and darkened, whilst rubbing to the spine edges has caused a small hole near the centre of the front joint. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is cracking to the hinges and to the gutter in places throughout the book. This means some page segments are a bit skewed but there are no detached pages. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing, with occasional stains. The book is filled with stunning black and white plates.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
