This lovely edition of The Remains of Margaret Davidson by Washington Irving was published by T Allman in 1846. So the book is from the early Victorian era. It's bound in original grey cloth with gilt decoration to the front and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition, with light wear to the corners and discolouration around the edges of the boards. The spine is also lightly faded, with rubbing and dulling to the gilt. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the inner hinges are cracked but the pages remain tightly bound. There is a name and date written on the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning and there are some occasional small stains to the paper.
Dimensions approximately 12.6cm x 8cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
