This lovely edition of The Language of Flowers with Illustrative Poetry was published by Paton and Otley in 1849. It has been rebound, with the original front (the rebind is dated at the back of the book for 1981).
It's in good condition, but there is wear and minor surface loss to the leather of the original front. There is light rubbing to the corners and spine ends, and the back board has a scuff mark.
Inside, there are new endpapers and something has been rubbed from the top corner of the front pastedown. The pages show heavy age toning and foxing. There is an illustrated half title page and three hand coloured plates with modern tissue guards. There is also a penned name and address just after the title page.
Dimensions approximately 14.5cm x 9.5cm x 1.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
