This beautiful edition of Howitt's Visits to Remarkable Places was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1882. It's bound in original green cloth with blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front and spine. All edges gilt.
It's in very good condition, with light wear and bumping to the corners and slight air bubbling to the cloth over the back board. The spine is faintly darkened, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting and loss to the cloth.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. There is slight cracking to the hinges but the pages remain tightly bound. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing - most prominent to the preliminary and end pages.
The book is filled with black and white illustrations within the text. Dimensions approximately 19.7cm x 14cm x 3.4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% biodegradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
