This wonderful early 18th Century edition edition of the Ladies Library is volume one in what would originally been a set of three books. It's bound in contemporary calf with five raised bands to the spine and a cloth title label. It was published in 1714 by Mr Steele and was written "By a Lady".
It's in very good condition but please note that half the title page has been removed and what's left has been mounted onto another piece of thick paper to preserve the fragile 300+ year old paper. The leather shows scuffing and light marking and the spine is sunned. All edges gilt but the top edge is very dulled.
Inside, there are contemporary endpapers and the pages show age toning throughout with occasional marking. There is a label over the Volume One (on the title page) and another to the Contents page (also covering up the vol i). The frontispiece is missing.
Dimensions approximately 17.2cm x 10.5cm x 4cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
