Antique editions of Dracula are hard to find so it's always exciting when I come across one. This ninth edition of Dracula by Bram Stoker was published by William Rider and Son in 1912. It's bound in original cloth but has been professionally rebacked ( a new cloth spine is inserted before the original spine is glued over the top ).
It's in good condition but is showing significant wear. There is wear and splitting to the corners and board edges. The cloth show heavy soiling and marking, and there is old water staining to the back board (this can be seen to the back pastedown). The spine is rubbed.
Inside, the old water staining can be seen in the margins towards the back of the book and most prominently to the back pastedown. There is a penned name and address to the title page which has leaked ink to the opposite page. There is further penned writing to the front pastedown. The pages show age toning and foxing throughout, with sporadic finger marks and creasing. It may be worn but it's still a nice edition of this scarce book and can still be read and enjoyed.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 12.3cm x 2.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
