This beautiful first edition of The All Sorts of Stories Book by Mrs Lang was published by Longmans, Green and Co in 1911. The book is bound in red cloth with gilt decoration to the front board and spine. All edges gilt. It's an exquisite binding and in very good condition. There is minor wear to the corners and light shelf wear to the board edges. The boards show minor marks and the spine is sunned. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, the front free endpaper has been removed so the book opens on the half title page. There is light age toning to the pages, with occasional foxing and marking. The tissue guard for the frontispiece is creased. There are a few superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.
The book is filled with both beautiful colour plates and black and white illustrations by H J Ford.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13.5cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough)
