This stunning antique edition of The Mother by Eden Phillpotts was published by Ward Lock and Co. There is no date inside but I’d estimate it to be circa 1900. The binding is more contemporary - the book is bound in half calf leather with red cloth boards. The spine features five raised bands and ornate gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled.
The book is in remarkably good condition for it's age with the most noticeable flaw being the fading to the spine. There is minor marking and scuffing to the boards, and light wear to the corners
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edge of the text block. There are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The pages are clean and bright with only occasional foxing.
Dimensions approximately 18.6cm x 12.8cm x 2.9cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
