This beautiful antique edition of That Lass O' Lowries by Frances Hodgson Burnett was published by London Frederick Warne and Co in 1893. So the book is from the latter part of the Victorian era.
The book is bound in blue cloth with beautiful blind stamped decoration and gilt detail to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition for it's age, but the book shows a forward lean and the corners are lightly worn. The boards show minor marks and there is light shelf wear to the board edges. The spine is lightly darkened, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but the front hinge shows very faint cracking to the top. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing, and there are some rubbed out pencil prices on the half title page. There are superficial cracks to the gutter in places. Despite this, the pages are tightly bound.
The book features beautiful black and white illustrations which make it an extra special read.
Dimensions approximately 20cm x 15cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
