This beautiful, antique edition of From Jest to Earnest by E P Roe was published by Walter Scott Publishing Company. The book itself is undated but after some research, I estimate it to have been published circa 1900.
The book is bound in brown cloth over bevelled boards with striking art nouveau floral decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition but the cloth does show some scuffs and minor marks. There is a very tiny hole in the cloth covering the back board. The board edges show light shelf wear and bumping and the spine is faintly darkened.
Inside, there are no inscriptions but the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. There are some occasional superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages are tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 15cm x 4.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
