This rare edition of Prince Ubbely Bubble's Fairy Tales by J Templeton Lucas also includes "The Addition of Glimpses of Elfland". It was published by Frederick Warne and Co but sadly isn't dated. There is a written inscription dated 1902 so we can estimate that the book is either late Victorian or early Edwardian.
This book is bound in blue cloth with beautiful blind stamped decoration and gilt lettering to the front board and spine. It's in good condition but the book does show a forward lean and there is wear to the corners. The board edges show some shelf wear and there is light marking to the boards. The spine is faded and discoloured, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused some minor splitting in the cloth. There is also rubbing to the spine edges which has caused a small hole in the back joint.
Inside, the pages show age toning throughout, with sporadic foxing and occasional marks in places. There is a written inscription on the reverse of the front free endpaper and another on the half title page. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages feel tightly bound.
Dimensions approximately 20.3cm x 14.5cm x 4.1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
