This rare edition of Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll was published by George Routledge and Sons as part of the Ruby Series. The book itself isn't dated but these particular binding were from the early 20th century (between 1902 and 1910).
The book is bound in brown cloth with pictorial decoration in an art nouveau style to the front board and spine. It's in good condition for it's age, but there are condition points to be aware of. The corners are either crushed or bumped, with wear and minor fraying to the cloth. The boards show some light marking and general soiling, but the pictorial decoration is still clear and bright. The book has a forward lean and there is some marking to the text block edges. There is crushing to the spine ends which has caused minor splitting to the cloth.
Inside there is a presentation plate on the front pastedown which has been partially removed and some rubbed out pencil numbers to the front free endpaper. The endpapers are marked and tanned, with creasing to the bottom corner of the FFEP. The colour frontispiece is detached but still present. The pages are clean and bright with only light age toning and occasional marking/foxing. There are cracks to the gutter in places but other than the frontispiece, the pages feel tightly bound.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
