This stunning edition of Cousin Mary by Mrs Oliphant was published by S W Partridge and Co. The book itself isn't dated but there is a penned inscription dated 1891. So the book is Victorian.
It is bound in original blue cloth over bevelled boards with beautiful blind stamped decoration in black and gilt to the front cover and spine. It's in very good condition with light wear to the corners and a slight forward lean to the book. The boards show light marking and the spine is sunned. Crushing to the spine ends has caused some splitting and stretching in the cloth.
Inside, there is a penned inscription to the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning throughout with sporadic foxing and handling marks. There is a small 1cm tear to the edge of page 35. Dimensions approximately 19.5cm x 13.8cm x 3.8cm.
Each book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
