This beautiful edition of The Boy's Book of Chivalry was published by S W Partridge and Co. The book is undated but there is a presentation plate dated 1911.
The book is bound in red pictorial cloth with stunning pictorial decoration and gilt detail to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition, with light wear to the corners and minor marks and chips to the front board. The back board also shows minor marking and the spine is lightly sunned, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing, with occasional cracks to the gutter. Despite this, the pages remain tightly bound. There is also very slight cracking to the front hinge. There are a handful of black and white illustration plates. Dimensions approximately 19.8cm x 14.6cm x 5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
