This beautiful vintage book of A Day in a Child's Life features the iconic Illustrations of Kate Greenaway and Music by Myles Foster. It was published by George Routledge and Sons. The book is undated but after some research, it appears that this binding was published in the 1880's.
It's in good condition but there is heavy wear to the corners, with loss to the paper revealing the board beneath. There is bumping to the board edges and the boards show marking and light soiling. The green cloth spine is rubbed, with crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, there are original green endpapers with a bookseller's sticker to the bottom corner of the front pastedown. There is a written inscription on the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning and sporadic foxing throughout. Excess binding thread can be seen between pages 28 and 29 at the back of the book, which has left an offset impression to the pages.
The Kate Greenaway illustrations throughout the book are just delightful - the additional of floral illustrations are a nice complimentary touch to her more typical illustrations of girls and women. Dimensions approximately 24.8cm x 21.2cm x 1cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
