This stunning edition of Dish of Apples by Eden Phillpotts was published by Hodder and Stoughton. The book is undated but it's the first edition thus and was published in 1921. The wonderful artwork by Arthur Rackham, perhaps the most sought after illustrator of book collectors, makes it a popular edition. There are 3 colour plates and 7 black and white illustrations. It's bound in rose grey cloth with decoration to the front board and spine.
It's in near fine condition, with foxing to the text block edges and a small bump to the bottom edge of the back board. There are some minor marks near the top edge of the back board and the spine shows very faint sunning.
Inside, the pages show light age toning and scattered foxing throughout, but the text is clear and bright. There are no inscriptions or signs of previous ownership.
Dimensions approximately 21.3cm x 17.5cm x 2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
