This lovely edition of Evelina by Frances Burney was published by London Macmillan and Co in 1932. It's bound in burgundy cloth with gilt decoration to the spine.
Frances Burney is less well known in the modern day but she was a very popular author during her lifetime. Burney's focus was on young women navigating society and Evelina is a satirical portrayal of 18th Century society. Jane Austen was a great admirer of her work and frequently mentioned Burney as one of her favourite authors. Jane Austen was known to draw inspiration from Burney's work, particularly Cecilia and Evelina.
The book is in very good condition but does show some light shelf wear to the corners and board edges. The back board is slightly bowed with faint marking and creasing. There is minor rubbing to the gilt on the spine and some white marking to the external front joint. The spine ends are crushed.
Inside, there is a stamped name on the front free endpaper and light age toning to the pages throughout. There is some minor foxing to the page edges. The book features beautiful illustrations by Hugh Thomson which really brings this underrated classic to life.

I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
