This stunning antique edition of The Hundred Best English Essays was published by Cassell and Company in 1929. The book is bound in half calf leather with red pink cloth boards. The spine features five raised bands and ornate gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled.
The book is in remarkably good condition for it's age with the most noticeable flaw being the fading to the top of the boards. There is minor marking and scuffing to the boards, and faint sunning to the spine.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edge of the text block. There are no inscriptions or writings of any kind. The preliminary pages and the last few pages show foxing. The rest of the pages are clean and bright with only occasional minor marks.
Dimensions approximately 21cm x 14.5cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
