This stunning antique edition of The Old Wives' Tale by Arnold Bennett was published by Hodder and Stoughton. It is undated. The book is bound in half calf leather with brown cloth boards. The spine features five raised bands and ornate gilt tooling and the text block edges are marbled. The binding is more contemporary than the book - someone obviously wanted a fine binding for their collection and had it rebound!
The book is in very good condition with the most noticeable flaw being the fading and wear to the spine. There is some minor chipping and scuffing to the surface of the leather. The boards have light marking and scuffing, and there is some wear to the corners. There is fading to the edges of the boards.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled to match the edge of the text block. The pages are clean and bright, only showing foxing to the preliminary pages and back couple of pages.
Dimensions approximately 18.8cm x 13.2cm x 3.8cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is either oxo-degradable (pale green in colour) or upcycled from deliveries I've had (this is clear and fully recyclable). The jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
