This beautiful edition of The House in Dormer Forest by Mary Webb was published by Jonathon Cape in 1951. The book was part of the Sarn Edition which would have originally been a collection of seven of Mary Webb's work in matching bindings and dust jackets.
It's in very good condition and the DJ is protected by clear plastic - this plastic is quite old and was taped in place. The tape has browned and this has left residue to the spine of the book. There are some scuffs to the external plastic cover.
Inside, the DJ is clipped and there is some toning to the endpapers. The pages are clean and bright. Some of the page edges are a little raw and appear to have been separated by hand. There are a further two leaves which remain uncut.
Dimensions approximately 18.3cm x 12.5cm x 2.3cm.
The book will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
