This beautiful edition of The Romance of Modern Exploration by Archibald Williams was published by Seeley, Service and Co in 1926. It's in publisher's original cloth; the book is bound in grey blue cloth with pictorial decoration to the front board and spine.
It's in good condition but there is light wear to the corners, with damage to the top corner of the back board. The boards show fading and marking, and the back board also has some scuffs and two small holes in the cloth. There is some bumping to the board edges and foxing to the text block edges. The spine is faded and discoloured, and crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The boards are slightly bowed.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and the rest of the pages show light age toning and sporadic foxing. There is slight damage to the edge of the Illustrations List page and a mark to the top of the introduction page.
The book is filled with black and white plates which add to the charm of this antique volume but what's even better is the large pressed flower inside! It's a beauty.
Dimensions approximately 20.2cm x 14cm x 4.7cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
