This beautiful First Edition of Reptiles and Amphibians by A Nicol Simpson made up part of the Peeps at Nature series. It was published by A & C Black in 1913 and was the first edition of this popular work.
The book is bound in green cloth with pretty floral decoration to the front board and spine. The front has a pasted on illustration. It's in very good condition but there is a slight forward lean to the book and light wear to the corners. There is some bumping to the board edges and the back board shows minor marking and faint scratching. The spine is a bit dulled.
Inside, there is a name and date in pen to the front free endpaper and an old pencilled price. The pages show light age toning and scattered foxing but the text is clear and bright. The tissue guard for the frontispiece is tanned.
The book features both stunning colour plates and black and white illustrations within the text.
