This gorgeous edition of The Open Road by EV Lucas; A Book of Verse for Wayfarers was published by Methuen and Co in 1926. It's bound in original green cloth with gilt decoration to the front board and spine.
It's in very good condition with the main flaw being the crushing to the spine ends, which has caused some splitting and minor loss to the cloth. The spine is faintly sunned and there is wear to the corners which has caused slight splitting and fraying in the cloth. The book has a slight forward lean.
Inside, the pages show age toning and very occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright. The endpapers are beautifully illustrated but there are no other illustrations.
Dimensions approximately 17.3cm x 11.7cm x 2.5cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
