This lovely antique edition of A Flat Iron for A Farthing by Juliana Horatia Ewing was published by G Bell and Sons in 1924. These bindings by G Bell are popular with collectors because of the stunning colour plates by MV Wheelhouse.
The book is in very good condition with just light wear and crushing to the corners. The cloth shows some minor marks and there is crushing to the spine ends.
Inside, the endpapers are beautifully illustrated but there is some tanning to the endpapers. The rest of the pages show lighter toning and very occasional foxing. Some of the page edges are quite jagged - I think they may have been released uncut and a past reader has inexpertly separated them.
The colour plates by MV Wheelhouse are really stunning. Dimensions approximately 18cm x 13.4cm x 2.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubbled wrap is biodegradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
