This beautiful antique edition of Snowdrop and Other Tales by The Brothers Grimm was published by Constable and Co in 1920. It features tipped in colour plates by Arthur Rackham - one of the most sought after illustrators with collectors. PLEASE NOTE that one colour plate is missing.
The book is bound in navy cloth with striking gilt decoration to the front board. The gilt that would have been on the spine is very dulled. It's an attractive book and in good condition but sadly there is some past water damage to the bottom of the boards and spine. This can be seen to the endpapers inside as well. There is some marking to the boards (including a large ring mark to the front board where someone has rested a large mug or bowl). The corners and board edges are worn and there is rubbing to the spine edges. The spine is sunned, with loss and dulling to the gilt. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
As mentioned above, the water staining can be seen to the endpapers and one of the colour plates is missing. There is a written inscription on the front free endpaper and the pages show light age toning and occasional foxing. The tissue guard for the frontispiece is tanned. There are some superficial cracks to the gutter in places but the pages remain tightly bound.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and ribbon.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
