This lovely edition of Birds in Town and Village by WH Hudson was published by JM Dent and Co in 1919. It features stunning colour plates by the iconic nature illustrator Edmund Detmold.
It's bound in pale green cloth with gilt detail to the front. It's in very good condition and the cloth is clean and bright, with minor marks and scuffs to the back. The corners show light wear and there is some rubbing and dulling to the gilt. The spine is darkened whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused very minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is an ex libris plate to the front pastedown and the tissue guard for the frontispiece has two small holes in it. The pages show light age toning and occasional foxing but are otherwise clean and bright.
Dimensions approximately 20.1cm x 14.9cm x 3.2cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
