This beautiful antique edition of Merry Animal Tales by Madge A Bigham was published by George Harrap in 1913. The book is bound in paper with a colour illustration pasted to the front.
The book is in good condition for its age but has undergone some restoration work to make it readable again. There were tears and splits to the spine so Japanese tissue has been used to repair the spine. There is wear and crushing to the corners which has caused splitting to the paper to reveal the board beneath. The boards are soiled and marked, with some scuffing and minor chipping to the paper. The spine is tanned and there is some loss to the spine ends.
Inside, there is a written name on the front pastedown and the FFEP has been removed so the book opens onto the half title page. The pages show age toning throughout, with scattered foxing and marking. Some of the pages have tears to the edges but thankfully this doesn't reach the text.
The book features beautiful illustrations by Margaret Tarrant.
Dimensions of the book are approximately 20.4cm 15.8cm x 2.9cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string. The bubble wrap I use is 100% oxo-degradable and the jiffy bags are recyclable.
Where possible, I use 100% recyclable paper tape, but sometimes I have to use clear plastic tape for extra strength.
