This beautiful vintage edition of Westward Ho! By Charles Kingsley was published by James Nisbet & Co Ltd in 1899. So the book is late Victorian.
The book is bound in blue cloth with stunning floral decoration to the front board and spine. It's in very good condition, with sunning and discolouration to the spine and minor spotting to the spine. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth. The boards have light marking and soiling, and there is some wear to the corners.
Inside, the pages have heavy age toning and scattered foxing. There is a presentation plate glued to the front pastedown and two small tears to the edge of page 49. There occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tightly bound.

All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
