This beautiful edition of The Nature Poems of George Meredith was published by Archibald Constable and Co Ltd in 1907. It's bound in original blue cloth with floral gilt in an art nouveau style to the front and spine.
It's in near fine condition, with minor bumping to the corners and a very slight forward lean. Crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting to the cloth at the head of the spine.
Inside, the endpapers are tanned and foxed; there is a penned name and date to the top of the front free endpaper. The pages show age toning (most prominent to the tissue guards) and scattered foxing.
The book has beautiful black and white plates - full page illustrations in photogravure. The plates are haunting landscapes that are particularly striking. Dimensions approximately 26.2cm x 16.8cm x 2.3cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
