This beautiful antique edition of The Breitmann Ballads by Charles Leland was published in 1892 by Kegan Paul, Trench and Co. So the book is from the mid Edwardian era.
The book is bound in stunning blue cloth with intricate floral detail in red and gilt. It's a striking binding. All edges are gilt. It's in very good condition, but there is darkening to the spine and crushing to the spine ends. There is minor rubbing to the corners and the book shows a slight forward lean.
Inside, there is tanning to the endpapers whilst the rest of the pages show lighter age toning. There is also occasional foxing and superficial cracking to the gutter in places - the pages remain tight to the binding.
Dimensions approximately 16.2cm x 11cm x 2.7cm.
All books purchased will be hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
