This stunning little antique edition of Being and Doing was published by Simpkin, Marshall, Hamilton and Kent in 1905. So the book is from the mid Edwardian era. It features a "selection of helpful thoughts from various authors arranged for daily reading". It's a sixth issue and is bound in full leather with stunning art nouveau decoration in gilt to the front and spine. All edges gilt. It's in very good condition but there is some scuffing to the leather and a little bit of discolouration to the back cover.
Inside, the paper is incredibly thin so there is rippling and creasing. The pages show sporadic foxing - there is age staining to pages 321-324.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned paper.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
