This lovely Edwardian edition of Wayside and Woodland Trees; A Pocket Guide to the British Sylva was written by Edward Step and published by Frederick Warne and Co Ltd in 1904.
It's in very good condition but there is rubbing to the extremities of the book and the corners. The spine is faintly sunned and darkened, whilst crushing to the spine ends has caused minor splitting in the cloth.
Inside, there is a name plate glued to the front pastedown and someone has crossed out the original name and address and written their own in. There is light age toning and sporadic foxing. There are also occasional cracks to the gutter but the pages remain tight to the binding. The book is filled with black and white plates.
Dimensions approximately 16cm x 11.7cm x 2.6cm.
The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
