This stunning edition of Sartor Resartus and Latter Day Pamphlets of Herr Teufelsdröckh by Thomas Carlyle was published by Chapman and Hall in 1893. It features a contemporary half calf binding with marbled paper boards and marbling to the text block edges. The spine has five raised bands and gilt tooling.
The novel is presented as a review and biographical sketch by a skeptical English editor who is examining the papers of a eccentric German professor, Diogenes Teufelsdröckh.
The book is in very good condition with light scuffing to the leather and wear to the corners. The spine is slightly faded with minor wear to the spine ends.
Inside, the endpapers are marbled and the pages are clean and bright with minimal wear.
