This beautiful edition of Tales from Maria Edgeworth was published by Wells Gardner Darton and Co in 1903. The book is bound in burgundy cloth with stunning gilt decoration to the front board and spine. It's in good plus condition with the most noticeable flaw being the damp damage to the edge of the back board. There is wear to the corners and the book shows a slight forward lean. There are minor marks to the boards and very slight air bubbling to the cloth in places. The spine is faintly sunned.
Inside, there is a date stamped on both the front pastedown and the FFEP. The pages are clean and bright with sporadic foxing. Some of the rough cut page edges are a little rougher than others.
The book features beautiful black and white illustrations by Hugh Thomson throughout.

The book will arrive hand wrapped in patterned wallpaper and string.
I use a range of eco friendly, 100% recyclable jiffy bags and boxes, and whenever possible I use brown paper tape. The green bubble wrap is oxo-degradable and the clear bubble wrap is 100% recyclable. I also reuse boxes when I feel it's appropriate (if the boxes are sturdy enough).
